NOAH (New Orleans Area Hope)
NEW ORLEANS IS WHERE :
On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina hit the gulf coast including New Orleans. The resulting floods broke the levee system in New Orleans destroying 100 sq. miles of the city! More than half of the churches were completely destroyed and most are still not back into full service ministry. Half of the city's population has not been able to move back into their homes.
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN NEW ORLEANS TODAY?
Oklahoma Baptists will partner with a section of the city that includes downtown, the French Quarter, and the infamous 9th ward which was so greatly damaged. Seven Southern Baptist churches are in zone 5 and Oklahomans will continue to assist these churches and people in rebuilding their lives, homes, and churches for the Lord.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
1. Reach people with the gospel.
2. Rebuild their lives, homes, and churches.
3. Start, restart, or strengthen churches in strategic locations.
You can get involved in prayer walks, church survey teams, personal evangelism teams, sports evangelism, block parties, youth rallies, and concerts in the city parks.
You can help with construction projects which include gutting out homes and churches, rewiring electrical, sheet rocking, and painting.
COSTS:
Housing is provided at the NOAH headquarters in the World Trade Center in New Orleans at a daily cost of $20, which includes three meals, a bed, parking, insurance, and an I.D. Badge.
When you contact NAMB, ask for a project assignment in the Oklahoma partnership area - zone 5.
