Worship & Music Ministry

of the

Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma

The Worship and Music office of the Church and Family Equipping Team exists to give assistance to and provide training for music leaders in Southern Baptist Churches in Oklahoma.  Our work is accomplished, in part, through the following events, performing groups, or consultations:

• Church Music Oklahoma - an annual large-scale training event for music leaders from all churches in our convention
• Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma - a 350 voice men's choir for music leaders from churches in our convention
• Singing Churchwomen of Oklahoma - a 450 voice women's choir for music leaders from churches in our convention
• Oklahoma Baptist Symphony - a full, auditioned symphony of instrumental leaders from the churches in our convention
• All-State Youth Choir - a biannual, auditioned choir for youth, grades 9-12, combining musical training and mission opportunities
• Singing and Praising - an annual event for Senior Adult Choirs providing encouragement and training
• Music supply or interim leadership - putting music leaders and churches together to help them in their work
• Individual Choir and Instrumental Workshops - helping churches grow in quality worship leadership

The Worship and Music staff is:

• Dr. Ken Gabrielse - Worship and Music Specialist - plans and coordinates events; provides training and encouragement for music leaders
• Ms. Meagan Peters - Worship and Music Ministry Assistant - coordinates the work of the office
