The Singing ChurchWomen of Oklahoma Dr. Ken Gabrielse, Director
As we begin our twenty-first year of performing in concerts, we are aware of our rich heritage and appreciate the support of our churches and our families. The ministry of this choir reaches across Oklahoma and around the world since its beginning in 1989. The SCW choir is made up of volunteer, professional, church-vocational and lay musicians that number more than 450 women from churches in Oklahoma. It is our desire to be Godly examples and to exhibit the love and grace of Jesus in our lives. Our concerts present the gospel of Christ through the vehicle of beautiful music. In 1991, the SCW sang at Prai-Sing in Nashville and in 1994, the doors opened for a mission/concert trip to Brazil. In 1998, the Singing ChurchWomen, the Singing Churchmen and the Oklahoma Baptist Symphony were invited to provide the music for all of the sessions of the Southern Baptist Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah. No other combined choir or instrumental organization has ever before been asked to participate in the Convention on such a large-scale. This speaks of the quality of musical excellence as well as the heart of Baptist Church Music in the state of Oklahoma. In June of 2004, the SCW participated in a mission/concert trip to Romania & Hungary where over 1,500 people came to know the Lord. The SCW were invited as the featured performing group, to participate in the premiere of the new Baptist Hymnal at Glorieta in July of 2008. A recording with the Singing Churchmen and Oklahoma Baptist Symphony was made in May of 2005. “Foundations” is a live concert recording of the three groups. Their newest recording, “Give Me Jesus”, was recorded in April of 2007. This music represents the heart of each member. It is our prayer that these songs will bring His peace into your life & that its warmth will renew your spirit. 2010-2011 Schedule for SCW:
