Question: What is a good source for background checks?
Answer: There are numerous sources for obtaining background checks, but the BGCO has signed an agreement with TRAK-1 Technology to provide background screening services at a very nominal cost. These services can be used for employees, ministerial staff, childcare workers, and other volunteers who work under the direction of the chuch. To receive more information about this service, please call (405) 942-3800, ext. 4648 or email sbabb@bgco.org or mclifton@bgco.org and you will be sent a service agreement and consent form. You may also want to consult the publication Oklahoma Baptists Protecting Children, Phase II for detailed information regarding the formulation of policies, sample application forms, and other resources. Question: We are building new preschool and children's space at our church. Are there any recommendations that we should consider regarding size of rooms, color of walls, floor coverings, etc?
Question: We are remodeling existing preschool and children's space at our church. Are there any guidelines we should keep in mind?
Answer: Yes, there are recommendations regarding new or remodeled preschool and children's space. There should be a maximum of 35 square feet per person (children and teachers) enrolled in the room and a minimum of 25 square feet per persons enrolled in the room. No preschool room should be smaller than 15 by 20 feet and doors should be solid with a small window for security purposes. Half doors are not recommended. Wall coverings should be durable and easily cleaned washable vinyl or paint in neutral or soft colors. Click here to see a PowerPoint presentation on the subject of preschool space. Be patient. Answer: First, determine what the job responsibilities and expectations will be of this person. For suggestions, obtain a copy of the Search Committee Handbook by calling the Church & Family Equipping team(405) 942-3800. Second, locate the Resume Sharing Service through the Leadership Development site on this website. There you may post your church's position as well as check for resumes of potential candidates.
