Gaskin Baptist Archives and Library

Gaskin Baptist Archives and Library

Located on the second floor, east of the elevators, of the Baptist Building in Oklahoma City, the Archives serves as the repository for Oklahoma Baptist historical materials. It is a resource center for those interested in doing research on any subject pertaining to Baptist life in Oklahoma, past and present.  On display are artifacts and personal libraries of noted Baptists as well as some church memorabilia.

The Archives has photocopy services available at a small charge. The collection is non-circulating and all Archives materials must remain on location.

The Archives has copies of several books for sale via the online store:
  • Hall of Fame Vol. 1 (2006)
  • The Two Became One (2006)
  • Biographies of Tanner, McConnell, Ingram and Lackey (all former BGCO executive secretary-treasurers)
  • an assortment of books by J. M. Gaskin to include Building a Denomination, Baptist Women in Oklahoma and Sights and Sounds of Falls Creek

NEW LIBRARY SETTING

When the offices, archives and library moved from first floor to second floor
of the Baptist Building in December, 2007, there were many changes.
One of the changes provided a table and chairs for use of visitors doing
research.  This accommodation is in the library which is housed in a
separate room from the offices and Archives.  This provision has been
used many times since our recent moves.  We appreciate the space
now available for researchers.  Here are a couple of pictures of
the new library area.

The six foot work table is in the foreground and barely visible.
The unseen south wall contains pictures, filing cabinets of
valuable information, with floor to ceiling shelves.
